Code of Ethics

Defining ethics as a set of standards to which one must adhere to be considered 'in keeping with the ideal of consent, communication, and clarity of purpose', these following are the ethical guidelines of the BDSM Business Folk association.

1. Protect the confidentiality of clients & customers, excepting when they have committed a grievous fault (defined as an act of violence or similar legal concern, where 'violence' has the intent of harm attached), if they are not yet ready to share that part of themselves with the world.

2. Promote honesty & clarity by seeking constructive criticism in order to grow as business folk.

3. Maintain professional integrity through quality work & dignified actions.

4. Bring respect & dignity to the BDSM community through personal comportment & business reputation

5. Treat in good faith with clients & consumers

6. Protect the good of the common populace in general through acts of clarity & communication (eg. proper signage, protect those who cannot consent from exposure, encouraging those who can consent but do not know to read up on the matter, etc.)

7. Help the community prosper through acts of charitable work (eg. volunteering, non-violent & non-destructive activist work, etc).
